This halloween I was thrilled when Bryce declared he wanted to be a football player and he wanted his sister to be "his" cheerleader. I mean...he has to be MY kid in order to coordinate like that! Everything was working out perfect...until...Leah decided that she did NOT want to be a cheerleader- she wanted to be a mermaid princess. I can't lie and say I wasn't disappionted. I decided that the holiday was for the kids and NOT me (darn) and that if she wanted to be a princess mermaid...that was what she was gonna be! I bought the cheerleader outfit so I could get at least one picture to satisfy Bryce and I. To satisfy my little princess I decided to MAKE her the mermaid costume.I prepare my kids in advance for events like trick or treating, and kept telling them what they were going to be dressed as. Everytime I would even mention the cheerleader Leah would say, "No cheerleader- princess mermaid!!" So, I made the costume and was pretty impressed with myself. I go to put it on her and...drumroll, please........she HATED it!! She complained it hurt (probably due to the sequins). So... she's excited to be the cheerleader, but I was disappointed she didn't wear my hard work.
Well, today she was walking around singing, "awwww-ah-awwww! awwww-ah-awwww" just like Ariel. I asked if she wanted to wear the costume...and she did! YAY! I knew it wouldn't go to waste. It really was an adorable moment, specially because that was my favorite movie when I was little and she loves it too!
